How To Try And Avoid Having Panic Attcaks

Before you begin helping yourself with your anxiety, you need to understand why your body behaves the way it does when you encounter a fear. The exact reasons are different for everyone. In many cases, the memory of a past experience spurs your body into fear about an upcoming occurrence of the same kind.

Help for panic attacks comes in the form of self-awareness and self-examination. The more you understand about your feelings, your symptoms, your body’s response to outside elements and about the things you can’t control, the better you’ll be able to treat yourself when you feel the onset of an attack.
There is no surefire way to recognize the root of a panic attack. It may be hereditary, caused by pressure, or caused by alterations in the way parts of the brain operate. It may be caused by a fight-or-flight reaction to risk. There are reasons that can increase the possibility of experiencing a panic attack, or suffering from panic disorder. Some may include an unexpected death in the family, analysis of an ailment, significant pressure, childhood sexual, emotional, or physical neglect; a family history of panic attacks or panic disorder, and so forth.

Antidepressants may be prescribed by physicians, psychoanalysis or counseling can help treat panic disorders.

Trying To Avoid Panic Attacks

Three things to try and avoid when having a panic attack. They are:

1) AVOID any thoughts that you are dying. This just makes you panic even more, and guess what? You WILL NOT die from a panic attack.

2) AVOID RESISTING riding out the wave of an anxiety attack and panic attack. If you run or do any fast movement, the more frantic you will become. Keep remembering that you WILL NOT die from this.

3) AVOID FAST BREATHING, which will cause you to hyperventilate even more. Remember to inhale slowly with as much ease as you can.

Physical relaxing methods do seem to be a helpful stress relief tool for some sufferers. But many are not helped by them. They include common exercise such as walking or running to keep the body fit and to relieve common stress. Everyone faces a certain amount of stress and remaining active will keep it from growing into more serious anxiety.

Breathing exercises are tried sometimes when stress is high to settle the mind down and make the body relax. But they are not helpful for a high percentage of sufferers. Also, additional physical and mental exercises such as meditation and yoga can help in relaxing and anxiety relief for some sufferers.

Remember that you are safe and will not die from these attacks, even though you may feel like you will! If you know that you are susceptible to anxiety and panic attacks, I would advise you to train your mind beforehand by giving it the message that you WILL NOT die from these attacks. Another important message for your mind is to breathe slowly. You need to become aware of the triggers of your panic attacks so that you can take control of the situation and consciously deal with the problem.
